These numbers might seem shocking to you, but children in foster care are often overlooked, and treated the same as other kids, when their situation can be far more dire than the typical child with a loving family. Children who are in foster care are typically there because they’ve been abused, their parent is unfit, or the environment in which they are in is unsafe. If the goal is reuniting the child with the parent, this means a child in foster care can be in an out of different homes, and schools most of their childhood. This leads to kids falling behind in school, not getting the educational nourishment they require, and not ultimately having the tools they need to succeed for the rest of their lives. Our goal here at Refurb Hope is to celebrate the few who do make it, by providing them with reliable technological resources for their future. College is expensive…but so is the laptop you bring with you to class. We bridge that gap, and make it possible for kids to have a better educational experience post high school.
